Satellite Internet

Rocket currently offers satellite internet through Starband.  Starband is a two way satellite internet company that has been around for several years and has proven itself to be one of the best providers of this type of service.  The benefit of Starband is that it will work any where in the state.  The only restriction it has is dish size and for 90% of the State that dish size is 1.2 meters. 

Satellite vs. Cable Modem & DSL

Satellite internet is not a very good substitute for a cable modem or a DSL line because it does have some limitations.  This product was never intended to compete with cable or DSL.  It's main use is for people who don't have access to another high speed service.  For example, people in the Bush who only have dial up access at a 26Kbps connection speed. 

Speed

Starband has modems with varying levels of speed on them.  The fastest speed available currently is 1Mbps download with 256Kbps upload.  The lowest speed available is 500Kbps download and 40Kbps upload.  As with any type of internet service, the faster the speed the higher the price.  Please click the modem types under the navigation menu to compare the different services available and the speeds that they run at.
